Sometimes we just need a laugh, even for serious yogis.  I wonder how his downward facing dog is?

Yoga and PTSD

Yoga as a treatment for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder?  Yoga helps a person become more centered, use physical poses to increase strength, and encourages proper breathing for optimal health.  All of those are sure to help someone going through psychological issues with a rush of endorphins that support positive thinking and believing in oneself.

Mindful Living

Mindful Living is what I get from practicing yoga, hot power yoga or simple yoga in my bedroom.  All forms are after one goal…to help you be present in your life and to help you think about your life.  This is just another part of our growing and changing as we live our lives.

I was against yoga, plain and simple.  I grew up where everyone practiced it and I wanted to be different.  (That was the same reason I didn’t smoke pot, everyone was doing it.)  I like to be different.  Now that I have tried yoga, I am a avid fan.  It’s not for everyone, but if you were ever tempted, it has changed my life…for the better.

Benefits of Prenatal Yoga

I have had my children but I wasn’t a yogi at that time.  Today, I recommend the yoga breathing to my friends who are expecting.  Being able to focus and breathe through the pain will get you where you need to be have a baby without the intervention of pain meds.  Labor isn’t easy and I’m not going to tell people that it’s an absolutely beautiful experience.  It is but it isn’t.  It’s also painful, messy and people will see more of you than anyone has besides your parents, but I have given birth to three children without pain medication and I know that yoga can only help make the experience easier.

Optimism

I find myself more optimistic when I am exercising regularly and in particularly, after a great yoga class.  It pushed me physically and helps me find the peace in my soul.  What makes you optimistic?

Yoga in Olympics

There is a group of yoga practitioners who are working to get competitive yoga into the 2016 Olympics.  I find peace in flowing through my yoga sun salutations and pushing my body to stretch and strengthen.  For others, achieving that hard to get into pose is energizing and fulfilling.  I wouldn’t want to compete in Olympic yoga, but I also wouldn’t want to run in an Olympic race, but I still like to walk and run.  For me, this is not a concern and I think that I would like to watch the compeitition, just to see what some people can do with their bodies.  What do you think of this?
